As the net worth of people increase day by day, the value of a human life decrease. Economists say the value of a human life is about 10 million dollars, really? In this world people value all other things except for their fellow humans. Maybe that’s why people fight over land, animals and other petty things. Most of the time people think they are very valuable but they never think of the same for their fellow being. Some unique people think they are of no value or their life is meaningless. They search for solutions and the only solution they find is ‘suicide’.
But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” John 12:4,5
What a brilliant man, he knows the value or worth of a perfume. There are people who know the worth of all such things. They are perfect in judging others. They like to give marks to other people. They weigh the ministry and life of people around them. Judas Iscariot even gave a value to his Rabbi Jesus’ life – 30 silver coins. But when he valued himself, he found it to be zero and gave up his life. The irony is that the people of his town valued his field where he died as the ‘Field of blood’. Today we find many Judas Iscariot in our midst. People who betray. People who judge others. People who sees their life as meaningless.
When you betray someone, you are losing your value. The one who gets betrayed will surely give no value to the betrayer. Even Jesus testifies of Judas iscariot in Matthew 26:24 , The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.
Now the people who judge. They never realise that they themselves will get judged by the great Judge, as it is written in Matthew 7:1,2, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way as you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Job’s three righteous friends were very keen to find the fault in job’s life but in doing so they themselves were at fault. Hence, let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
Now the people who consider their life to be of no value. They do so in despair and in depression. They don’t realise how valuable they are to God. Economist may value a human life to ten million dollars but God valued (or say redeemed) our life with the precious blood of His beloved Son Jesus Christ. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 1 Peter 18,19. If you don’t know this currency, then yes your life has no value but if you know Him then your life becomes invaluable.
Hence, give value to others, be valuable to them and always remember how important you are to God. For only the valuable reach the QUIVER OF GOD.
